What to Expect
VUWTC has a set of epic trips / events which happen roughly at the same time every year.
Besides these trips the club runs trips every weekend, AND By showING up to the meetings so you'll know exactly what's going to happen!
Freshers is the first and largest trip of the year. The trip last for a whole weekend and happens in the start of the year; typically 2nd or 3rd weekend of trimester 1. The trip is graded easy / social and it's good way to meet new people. socialise, and have a great time. The trip is organised by the Social Officer and Chief Guide.
If you like climbing, or want to learn how to climb you should definitely rock up to this trip (pun intended). RockCraft is typically run week or two after Freshers and is organised by the Climbing Officer.
"World's best ball in New Zealand's finest bush"
This is a themed party which is organised somewhere in the Tararua Ranges. The trip is purely social and includes an easy 1-2h walk. The trip happens typically after the mid-trimester break, and it's organised by the Social Officer.
AIC - Alpine Instruction Course
Alpine Instruction Course is intended to ensure that people who want to attend long midwinter trips are skilled enough to do so. You'll learn how to use crampons, ice axes, and a bit about avalanches. AIC typically happens after week 12 of Trimester 1. The trip is organised by the Chief Guide & Assistant Chief Guide.

MW Xmas is a social trip typically run in the first few weeks of trimester 2. Because December is quite warm, VUWTC offers an Xmas themed trip in the middle of winter. This is a social trip with heaps of delicious Xmas food, and presents. The trip is organised by the Social Officer and the Chief Guide.
AIC2 - Alpine Instruction Course 2
Alpine Instruction Course is intended to ensure that people who want to attend long midwinter trips are skilled enough to do so. AIC2 is typically more advanced than AIC1, but content depends on popular demand. You'll learn how to use crampons, ice axes, and a bit about avalanches. AIC2 typically happens in the first half of Trimester 2. The trip is organised by the Chief Guide & Assistant Chief Guide.

BushRave is the last event of the year, and as the name suggests it's an epic rave in the bush. This trip requires no walking, or skill, just expect to have a blast like you've never seen before! IF BushBall is the greatest Ball, BushRave is the greatest party you're likely to see!! BushRave happens in the end of trimester 2. The trip is organised by the Social Officer.
